I’ve designed a variety of books focusing on a variety of different subjects.
The Iowa Floods of 2008
The most recent: a 240-page documentary of the floods and ensuing recovery, published by the State of Iowa. I was singlehandedly responsible for the concept and execution of the book’s design.
I designed and created an extensive series of colorful, intuitive, easy-to-understand charts and infographics to illustrate the complex distribution of government funds to thousands of projects over a decade-long recovery period. (see infographics section).
I directed 6 months worth of state-wide photoshoots documenting the state’s billion-dollar recovery process.
Iowa’s Wild Beauty and The Return of Iowa’s Bald Eagles
I designed two books for author Ty Smedes based around his amazing nature photography. I was heavily involved in all page layout, image selection and correction, as well as in the editing process.
Iowa State Fair Photography Salon
I designed the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon book for four years. Each year, I updated the overall design, input all of the photographer and caption information and edited the explanatory copy.
